Why Choose All Natural Soap Over Commercial Soap

The soap making business is a difficult business. Yes it can be very rewarding, and many soap makers consider it a gift to be able to make money doing what you love, but it doesn't mean that it isn't without its hardships. One of most difficult things about selling handmade soap is getting people to buy that soap. It is difficult for two reasons. First, a lot of people like sticking to soap that they have tried and tested or trusted brands. Second, all natural soaps or handmade soaps are often more expensive that commercial soaps.

Commercial soaps can be sold for cheaper primarily because they are made in large batches, and because these batches are made by machines. A typical bar of commercial soap comes from a batch of 100,000 pounds or more. However, making soap in quantities this large often needs fillers in order to make it affordable and profitable for the company. Furthermore, the use of chemicals is also required so as to keep the product consistent

So because all natural soap is made in smaller batches and by machines. Because it does not use any fillers or chemicals, it is more expensive. But the fact that it is made with natural ingredients and without chemicals are the same reasons why all natural soap better for the skin. This is why those with sensitive skin are often advised to bathe with homemade soap. This is the first reason why homemade soap should be chosen over commercial soap.

Second, it is also important to point out that very often, companies get away with selling “soap” that really cannot be classified as soap. Many commercial soaps label their products with unique names such as “beauty bar” or “body bar.” Often, these names are used to disguise the fact that the consumer isn't actually buying soap. As a rule of thumb, most people agree that if it doesn't say “soap,” it might not be soap. Rather, it is more of a detergent in the sense that it removes oils from the skin.

Homemade soaps do not have this problem. When you buy homemade soap, it is definitely soap. Nothing synthetic goes into the process. Because of this, it makes the skin softer, it doesn't strip the skin of any of its natural oils, nor does it ruin its protective barriers with chemicals, and it moisturizes the skin better than commercial soaps. Using homemade soap means you no longer need to use a moisturizing lotion after each bath because the soap itself can moisturize your skin for you. This is the second reason to choose handmade soap over commercial soap.

Though there are many more reasons, the third and last reason worth pointing out is that all natural soap is often better for the environment. Both the process of making it and the final product itself is better for the environment. Compared to commercial soaps, it has very little waste or by-products, giving it a much smaller carbon footprint. So choosing it is not only better for your body, but it's also better for the earth!
